Subodh Dubey talks about his new role as Group CIO at Shapoorji Pallonji & Co Pvt Ltd.
An industry veteran with over 22 years of experience, Subodh Dubey has been a key driver of innovation and change, leading initiatives that utilise IT to transform and drive business processes to help achieve organisational goals. He has worked with some of the countries leading companies including Mahyco Seeds Ltd, JCB Manufacturing Ltd, K Raheja Corp, USHA International Ltd, and BILT Ltd, where he was the Group CIO till recently. Subodh has now taken on the role of Group CIO at Shapoorji Pallonji & Co Pvt Ltd, a 150-year-old diversified business conglomerate that offers solutions across engineering and construction, infrastructure, real estate, water, power and electricals. Here, he talks to us about this new chapter in his career.
What do you expect to find at this new role?
“This is a new role for the group, so I feel this will be a very challenging but interesting role that will give me the opportunity to create various CoEs for a $5.5 billion enterprise to help business.”
What learnings from BILT do you think will be helpful here at Shapoorji Pallonji?
“There are a couple of things like data centre consolidation, IoT, business process optimisation that will be helpful here.”
What are some of your strengths you plan to leverage here?
“Creating synergies across a diversified group and making IT a business driver.”
What plans do you have for the next few months at Shapoorji Pallonji?
“This is the new role and its outline will emerge over a period of time, but I plan to understand the businesses, which will take couple of weeks, and then create a short-term, mid-term, and long-term plan for the group.”
What are your long-term plans?
“To create a fully functional group IT with shared services, and optimised use of technology investment, digitisation, and digital transformation.
Any challenges that you foresee?
“As this is a new role getting the group companies aligned to a new way of working could be a challenge.”
What prompted you to make this move?
“This was a challenging and bigger role in a growing enterprise.”
What kind of opportunities are you looking forward to?
“Using the best and latest technologies for the EPC industry, and taking it to Industry 4.0 level.”

“Yes, digitisation, digital transformation and digital marketing will all be affecting our group, and I will be creating a adoption plan for the same.”
