Celebrate Chinese New Year at these restaurants in Mumbai

Usher in the Year of the Rooster by digging into these lip-smacking, specially crafted, festive spreads. By Satyaki Sarkar

Chinese New Year is almost here and a number of the city’s fine dining restaurants have decided to prepare special meals to celebrate the occasion. From exotic dishes to grand and elaborate decorations, each is raring to outdo the other. We suggest you six restaurants you should head to, to give your taste buds a feast to remember.

San_Qi

1. San Qi, Four Seasons Hotel, Worli
Master Chinese Chef Lin Lin Yang has put together a menu of lip-smacking traditional specialties. The special menu is available till January 28, and features dishes like Yusheng, a Singaporean delicacy, and the ever popular Shanghai Style Crispy Duck, among others. There’s also a specially curated cocktail menu put together by Ashish Sharma, the hotel’s star Mixologist and Beverage Manager, including the likes of Fireball, Yin and Yang, and Little Bird Told Me.

Grand_Hyatt(China-House)

2. China House – Grand Hyatt, Santacruz East
Celebrate the Year of the Rooster at China House by tucking into a festive menu that includes delectable Chinese delights like Sichuan Style Pork Sausage and Claypot Spinach Tofu with Glass Noodle. The festive dishes will be available till February 2 so you don’t miss out on any of the fun. The restaurant is also offering special cocktails to ring in the new year. So go ahead and dig in!

Hakkasan

3. Hakkasan, Bandra
Staying true to their sterling reputation for lip-smacking Chinese dishes, the Michelin-starred Hakkasan will be commemorating the Chinese New Year from January 13th to February 11th by serving a plethora of delicious offerings like the Supreme soya and honey glazed Indian salmon and the Cantonese style seafood noodle. Once you’ve had your fill, you can wash it down with the potent Waltzing Collins or the Waltzing temple, or finish off with the scrumptious Golden Feather, for desserts.

4. By the Mekong, The St Regis, Lower Parel
In order to ensure that you have an experience you will never forget, the culinary masterminds at Mekong have crafted a menu that complements the spirit of the Chinese New Year. Combining home-style cooking with traditional ingredients, the menu includes festive delicacies like Shandong Style Sauteed Shrimp, Shredded Chicken with Sesame Seeds, and Pan-fried Asparagus Cake with Chili Coriander Sauce. On only till January 29, so quickly book a table to enjoy the festive spread.

Nom_Nom

5. Nom Nom, Bandra & Andheri
In celebration of the festival, Nom Nom is bringing back old school favourites like Chengdu Style Vegetable Spring Rolls with Hot Green Chilly mayonnaise, Dry Chilly Chicken and Shitake Mushroom wok tossed with spice infused oil, Togarashi Spice-dusted Squid Tempura with hot garlic dip, and many more. The festive specials will be available from January 25th to February 25th. So you don’t have any excuse to miss this one!

Yauatcha

6. Yauatcha, Bandra Kurla Complex
Honouring the Chinese New Year, Yauatcha will have a vegetarian Chinese New Year Signature menu as well as a non-vegetarian Supreme menu, featuring authentic Chinese specialties by Head Chef Wang Yixuan, like the Truffle edamame dumpling, szechuan mabo tofu, Prawn salad with mango, the limited edition red King crab and scallop dumpling, the Spicy wild prawn curry with onion and water chestnuts, and many more. With the special menus available from January 16th to February 11th, make sure to also try the special limited edition dim sums and Black River Martini served exclusively for the event.
