Aerovoyce launches International SIM and ISP in India

The telecom brand received its MVNO license last year in December and recently announced the formal launch

Chennai-based digital payment provider Adpay recently launched the broadband and international calling services of its telecom brand Aerovoyce. The company had already received approval for its mobile virtual network operator license last year in December, from the Department of Telecom and the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, and now, Aerovoyce’s international SIM and internet service has formally been launched.

Although Aerovoyce hasn’t disclosed the names of its telecom/ISP partners, they can only partner with a single telecom operator per access service time as per India’s MVNO guidelines, which would make it necessary for them to have different partners each for National Long Distance Voice, International Long Distance voice, data, and so on. However, the Department of Telecom has recently been considering doing away with this restriction.

Aerovoyce Founder and CEO, Sivakumar Kuppusamy stated that the base plan would let you use fibre broadband internet services for Rs 249 per month, with a 4Mbps speed and a Fair Usage Policy, where connection speed would be reduced once the limit of 30GB has been crossed. The higher package would be priced at Rs 2999 for a 150 Mbps connection with a FUP of 550 GB. On the other hand, international SIM users would be charged $15 per month for 50MB of data and 100 minutes of talk time. He also added in a press release that for the launch, that Aerovoyce has planned investments of Rs 300 crore for the next three years.

Aerovoyce also said that the lack of connectivity in rural areas is the major reason why prices have been kept cheaper compared to similar service providers, and hence, it is looking to focus primarily on townships and other rural areas which have a population of 10,000 – 50,000. Currently, the company is looking to launch in cities like Salem, Coimbatore, Thanjavur, Cuddalore and Kanyakumari in the Tamil Nadu circle, and plans to get as many as one lakh customers within three months of launching.
