When it comes to public speaking even the best of us tend to lose our composure and the plot. Add to that a professional setting, where you have to deliver a presentation to a room full of high-ranking executives and senior professionals, and it doesn’t matter if your audience is five people or 500. However, there are hundreds of leaders around the world delivering riveting presentations, holding conferences, and publicly speaking every day, so one must wonder how they do it, right? 1. Julian Treasure: “How to speak so that people want to listen”
Besides being an international public speaker, entrepreneur, and author, Julian Treasure is a sound and communication expert who travels all over the world learning about sound and teaching people and businesses how best to use it. In this riveting TED Talk, he discusses how we end up sabotaging ourselves through physical and verbal cues while speaking, making a person completely lose interest in anything we have to say. David JP Phillips is the founder and owner of Sweden’s largest organisation dealing with the art of making presentations. He’s also a world renowned author and public speaker, who teaches millions of people about the subject. PowerPoint, as he states, has become the most popular medium for delivering strong presentations. However, not many people actually consider how effective it is as a tool, and instead of making the presentation more fun, informative, and interactive, actually alienate and bore the audience. 3. Allan Pease: “Body Language, the Power is in the Palm of Your Hands”
Allan Pease is a famous Australian author, motivational speaker, and co-author of 15 books. In spite of having no formal education in psychology, neuroscience, or psychiatry, through his keen insight into human behaviour, Allan has established himself as an expert on body language. In this intriguing TED Talk, Allan reveals how something as simple as the way in which we orient our palms can drastically affect the audience we are speaking to and how they perceive us. In this TED Talk, Animesh explains how you can modify your belief systems to not only conquer your fear of public speaking, but also get rid of any and all fears and anxieties in life. He uses powerful self-dialogue on himself to completely eliminate stage fright and his fear of public speaking while assuring the audience that he doesn’t have multiple-personality disorder.

5. Will Stephen: “How to Sound Smart in Your TEDx Talk”
A writer on Saturday Night Live, Will Stephen is not your average TED speaker, and neither is this your average TED Talk. Will begins by openly stating that he has absolutely nothing to say before proceeding to methodically tear down each and every archaic aspect of regular TED Talks, and take jabs at how they are supposed to be so infinitely compelling. While on the surface it might seem like it’s just a parody of TED Talks, it actually offers a brilliant breakdown of how orators use seemingly harmless tricks to grab and retain the attention of their audience.
