5 famous Indian men and the watch brands they love

There are few things men love more than their watches. So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that some of India’s most famous men spend a fortune on their timepieces. Here’s a low-down of who wears what.

Watches to men are like diamonds to women. You can never have enough of them but you’ll always, always have that one piece that stands out from your entire collection. Watches have always held a special place in the lives of men. They reveal a lot about a man and his life’s philosophy. Is he loud or understated, quiet or garrulous—the watch he wears will most likely tell you everything you need to know about him. So what do India’s famous men turn to when they have to tell the time?

Sachin Tendulkar
Cricket’s living legend isn’t just passionate about his game but also his timepieces. Sachin is believed to be a fan of the Audemars Piguet brand. He has often been seen wearing the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph. Needless to say, this isn’t the only watch in his collection. While the Royal Oak is indeed a favourite addition, Sachin is said to have some 10 pieces of Audemars Piguet!

Hrithik Roshan
The Bollywood superstar may not have had a great run at the box office recently and his personal life has been splashed all over gossip columns but Hrithik Roshan likes to live life king size. Since he is the brand ambassador for Rado, the newly-single Hrithik is seen only wearing timepieces by the Swiss watchmaker in public. But Hrithik’s relationship with Rado goes back a long way. The actor has revealed in interviews that he has seen his father wearing Rado watches while growing up. And so the ambassadorship seems like a sweet deal. The good folks at Rado have gifted Hrithik a custom-made Rado HyperChrome Automatic Chronograph that has ‘Always chronograph always perfect’ engraved on the case back.

Abhishek Bachchan
If you’ve ever seen Abhishek Bachchan waving out to his fans, you’d probably have noticed an Omega. Quite like Hrithik, Abhishek is also the brand ambassador for the watch he wears. The Seamaster 300 Co-Axial he is often spotted wearing is specifically designed for professional divers. And while Abhishek has never really shown any interesting in diving, professionally or otherwise, it does look pretty darned good on his wrist, don’t you think?

Leander Paes
Then there is Leander Paes. The tennis legend whose career has spanned a mind-boggling 25 years likes to sport his 18-carat yellow gold Rolex with eight brilliant and two baguette-cut diamonds studded on the dial. Leander is often seen wearing his Rolexes at several events. Rolex has produced art masterpieces and has also launched exclusive editions to the store. The brand has won several awards for its luxury products and maintenance.

Saif Ali Khan
When you are a nawab, your choice of watch also ought to be unique, isn’t it? It is fitting, then, that Saif Ali Khan’s watch of choice is from the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master World Geographic collection. What makes Saif’s Jaeger- LeCoultre Reverso Grande Taille unique is that it has his family crest engraved on the back of the case. The unique watch was a gift from the brand for it’s popular customer. Saif prefers his watches to be simple and classic models that only just hint at his royal ancestry without screaming for attention. We like that in a man. Don’t you too?
