Car enthusiasts are in for a treat as the May has been an excellent month for new releases with the launch of several highly anticipated cars. Whether it is speed, looks or sheer driving joy you’re after there’s something for everyone in this month’s launches.
1. Lexus LX450d
This beauty comes in seven different colour options, and features the large Lexus grille, LED headlamps decorating its front, and characteristic old school SUV lines, replete with flared wheel arches. The seven-seater cabin is a beautiful combination of two-tone leather-lined seats and dark beige upholstery. The car comes loaded with a 19-speaker Mark Levinson audio system, wireless charging port in the centre console, and screens for second row passengers, as well as a four-zone climate control system. The LX450d is powered by a massive 4.5-litre diesel V8 engine that churns out 270bhp/650 Nm of torque, which lets this beast go from 0 to 100 kmph in a matter of 8.1 seconds, with a top speed of 210 kmph.

2. Isuzu MU-X
The Isuzu MU-X comes in two variants, the 4×2 and 4×4. Retaining a number of design elements from the new-generation D-Max and the D-Max pickup truck, the MU-X SUV stands out on the road with its projector headlamps, LED DRLs, 17-inch diamond cut alloys, wing mirrors, and roof-rails. The interior comes in a dual-tone shade of ivory and grey, with soft leather upholstery. The MU-X also comes with a 7-inch infotainment system, roof-mounted surround sound system, cruise control, keyless entry, reverse camera, climate control and AC vents for all three rows of seats. It is powered by a 3-litre diesel engine that pushes out 174 bhp/380 Nm of peak torque, and provides an incredible fuel efficiency of 13.8 kmpl.

3. Jaguar XE Diesel
The diesel variant of Jaguar’s popular entry-level XE sedan was launched recently in India is available in three variants, Pure, Prestige and Portfolio, similar to its petrol model. As far as design elements are concerned, the car is identical to its petrol variant, and is built using Jaguar’s characteristic lightweight aluminium architecture, derived from the aerospace industry. It comes loaded with a number of features like the Meridian Sound System, panoramic sunroof and an 8-inch touchscreen display with InControl infotainment system. Additionally, you can also choose to get the JaguarDrive Control system that lets you select between Normal, Eco, Dynamic modes or Rain Ice Snow modes, each of which subtly change the steering and throttle mapping to suit the road condition. The Jaguar XE diesel runs on a monstrous 2-litre turbocharged, four-cylinder Ingenium diesel engine that produces a massive 177 bhp/430 Nm of peak torque, letting it go from 0 to 100 kmph in 7.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 228 kmph.

4. Volkswagen Tiguan
After much anticipation, the Volkswagen Tiguan SUV was finally launched in India by the German automobile company and is available in two variants, Comfortline and Highline. The base Comfortline will be packing 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlamps and tail lights, daytime running lights, electrically adjustable heated front seats with driver side lumbar support, a touchscreen infotainment system with GPS, Cruise Control and Automatic Climate Control among others. The Highline variant will also be loaded with features like push button start, 18-inch alloy wheels, gesture controlled tailgate, reverse parking camera, and panoramic sunroof, besides the features the Comfortline has. The car is powered by a 2.0-litre TDI engine that produces 147 bhp/330 Nm of peak torque, accelerates from 0-100km/h in 9.3 seconds and has a top speed of 200 kmph, besides having a mileage of 17.06kml.

5. Toyota Innova Crysta Touring Sport
The Toyota Innova Crysta Touring Sport edition was unveiled in the beginning of May and is available in two colour variants, Wildfire Red and White Pearl Crystal Shine, to the joy of fans of the comfort SUV line. The car has been upgraded with an all-black front grille, smoked headlamps, and a revised front bumper with sporty spoilers, true to the theme of the car. Available in both petrol and diesel variants, the car comes with a manual as well as automatic gearbox option. The petrol version packs a 2.7-litre engine that pushes out 164 bhp/245 Nm of peak torque, while the diesel version comes in two versions. There a 2.4-litre engine that churns out 148 bhp/343 Nm of peak torque, and is connected to a 5-speed manual gearbox. And then there’s the 2.8-litre engine that churns out 172 bhp/360 Nm of peak torque, and is connected to a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Other specifications remain the same, with a top speed of 180 kmph, while the 17-inch wheels have been switched out for 16-inch ones that are more suitable for Indian roads.
